Oil and Gas Disputes
- ConocoPhillips, as an original lessee, farmed out certain leases for development by another oil and gas company. Ultimately, Riata succeeded to the interest in the leases and drilled additional wells to develop the properties under the lease. While drilling and assuming operations, Riata refused to recognize and refused to pay ConocoPhillips for its reserved overriding royalty interest in the leases and wells drilled on the leases. ConocoPhillips hired HMH for a lawsuit filed in Pecos County. HMH was able to resolve the case within the year, reaching a settlement under which ConocoPhillips was paid the money it was owed.
